You're never too old for cake in our household. I love how my dad and I are both so easily excited by any opportunity for cake (but only the Asian kind with whipped cream, of course). Hope you had a good one, daddy (Don't mind that this post is suuuuuper late). I love you!

The black forest cake is from my favorite Asian bakery: Desir Bakery inside Ranch 99 supermarket. Asian bakeries will seriously be the death of me. The cakes are always made with fresh fruit and subtly yet addictively sweet whipped cream, and they are collectively the best thing that has happened to our family birthdays since La Madeleine fruit tart cakes. If I don't make a conscious effort to restrain myself, I basically won't stop eating them since they're so light and airy. (#cantstopwontstop)

Anyhow, we always walk out with way more bread than we initially intend to buy. There are really just too many yummies to choose from: the vast assortment of warm sweet and savory breads, the housemade egg tarts (basically Asian crème brûlée), the individual slices of fancy cake, the errythangggg. It's horrible. Yet beautiful.

Leftover cake for breakfast? Yes please.
