Union Market

Monday, December 16, 2013

I don't know if I would go back often, but Union Market was definitely worth the first trip. Though it didn't really reflect the part of town it's situated in - it's more of an upscale dining/specialty food shopping area in the midst of an assortment of abandoned buildings and warehouses. Hm.

Anddddd we conveniently went on Gospel Choir Brunch Saturday. Yay!

From the outside, it looks like this huge warehouse in a grunge-y looking street end . On the inside, it's this golden trove of specialty food companies.

I got a knish + salad combo from Buffalo Bergen! I don't really know how to describe it; they're like these puffy potato based dough balls with whatever type of filling you choose inside (I got short ribs). It was pretty filling since it was so condensed but yummy nonetheless. The salad made me happy; it's been a while since I've had good vinaigrette.
(And yes, I know my picture is pretty edited I just used my Instagram one okay).

Mannhi's Korean tacos! (Bulgogi, pork, and tofu)

Reminds me of Twilight haha.
So I was casually walking past the lady selling mini pies and stopped for a bit just to ask what flavors she had (Not because I wanted to buy one or anything...just curious).
So there was only one blueberry left.
She saw my face and said she'd give it to me half price.
I sprinted back to our table to get my wallet.
I returned to triumphantly claim my prize.
I came, I saw, I conquered.

Om nom nom
All in all, it was a pretty fulfilling experience. I was a bit bummed that we sat across from Peregrine the whole time and never got any coffee, but it's okay I'm learning how to control myself. (Well, I'm trying.) I'll have other opportunities; there are years of food and drink-hunting waiting for me here.
